About Me and My Practice:

Collaboration

I offer a results-oriented, collaborative approach. I’ll explain everything and answer your questions along the way. My intention is to support you in making decisions and taking action that puts you on a path of better functioning and calmer emotions.

Hypnosis

I often use hypnosis in my work. It has a potential of accelerating our work, and focusing the skill-building that you likely want to do. You’ll notice that I said ‘often’ – not always. While hypnosis is a versatile tool, it might not fit every situation. Likewise, not everyone is open to the experience of hypnosis. That’s okay! As they say: There’s more than one way to cook an egg. And, certainly, there are many other ideas and strategies we can use to advance personal growth.

If, after a session or two, we determine that I'm not a good fit for your situation and needs, I'll help you find that help somewhere else - whether down the hall, across town, or elsewhere.

My approach to helping:

An area of special interest for me is the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. OCD can be a tough opponent, but there is almost always hope to get better. I have about 20 years experience in the use of Exposure & Response Prevention Therapy - and I can show you how to use it to get more mastery over compulsive urges.

The only thing I've studied and used longer in practice is clinical hypnosis. It is a versatile tool, and offers a way to approach many problems in the human condition.

Hypnosis is a tremendously adaptable tool. We can approach problems of trauma, anxiety, and depression. Phobias can be managed better – some people feel that phobias ‘go away’, while others will find them present but less disruptive.

Perhaps you’ve been told that you’ll have to “live with” the chronic pain that has lingered long after an injury has healed. Maybe someone gave you the idea that your suffering is “all in your head”. But even though your suffering is real, you feel you are running out of options. Hypnosis does not replace your doctor’s help – but it can become an important additional tool to reduce suffering. If you are not getting the results you want for personal change, perhaps it’s time for a new approach – one that holds promise for you and your goals.

I have over 35 years of experience as a therapist, and have been using hypnosis as an integral part of my work since the earliest days of my career. You can discover ways to manage anxiety, master panic, and reconnect with your authentic self. After an assessment of your situation, we will take a look at what has been getting in the way of your progress, and develop an action plan that will help you get going. Please don’t wait any longer to get the help you need and deserve. Call me at 402-334-1122. We’ll find a time to get together, and determine how we can work together.

What I enjoy about being a therapist:

There are two key rewards in the practice of psychotherapy that spring to mind as I write this:

  • Forming a partnership with my clients within which he or she can experience both safety and hope. Where a situation can be understood, and a solution found.
  • That moment when a client announces that they don't need to come back for additional sessions - when someone feels a sense of independence and autonomy to face trouble with poise and confidence.

Most people find that I'm a pretty interactive therapist. While there are times when remaining calm, quiet, and patient are essential - I like to get things and people moving!

Why you should choose to work with me:

Deep Experience - comprehensive training - action-oriented. Oh, and I try not to take myself too seriously.
